Relay for Life Team - Rowdy Relayers - Fundraiser Necklaces

In the last couple of months, I have had the opportunity to design a collection of necklaces for the Relay for Life team I am a member of. My aunt's company, 4Sisters is making the necklaces. Above is an image of all the designs and colors we are selling.

When my mom, a leukemia survivor, asked me to design these necklaces for our team fundraiser, how could I say "No"? We discussed many options, but wanted to make sure that our designs were symbolic of hope. Below are the explanations for each design that we selected.

The Butterfly Necklace
The butterfly has many symbolic meanings. In Greek mythology, the butterfly represents the souls of loved ones. Other cultures believe it is a sign of new life, freedom, and joy. We have chosen this symbol to honor and remember our loved ones who have lost their battles with cancer and to celebrate the new life, freedom, and joy we can bring to those who are suffering from cancer by supporting research to find a cure.

The Flower Necklace

Flowers are given as a way to say “I love you” and “Thinking of you”. They bring beauty to the world around us. We have chosen the symbol of a flower to reflect the beauty of life and love given to us each day.

The Ribbon Necklace
Though the white awareness ribbon can hold many meanings, we have chosen it as a reminder that we are all united in the battle against cancer. Whether we are a survivor or supporter, we all play a role in finding a cure.
The Dove Necklace
Doves represent love and peace, which is why we chose this symbol. The purple background signifies the spirituality of the dove and honors the American Cancer Society’s purple theme.
